This type of metalwork used to be seen only in churches in Oaxaca de Juarez, principally in the form of images of saints or of the Virgin Mary. Only in more recent decades did artisans expand into other areas such as decorative pieces. The eight pointed stars are hand painted in red, yellow, blue,
