The Pithon 2003 Coteaux du Layon - Saint Lambert Les Bonnes Blanches – from a chalky site that is gaining notoriety – reflects a deep copper color to the eye and considerable new wood in the nose
Noticeable oak on the palate but with lovely freshness too
Floral overtones add lift through to the finish
This is not an elegant Corton-Charlemagne but it is seriously impressive nonetheless
Yves Cuilleron, Cote Rotie Lieu Dit Bonnivieres Vintage:2021 The Pithon 2003 Coteaux duDarker red and black cherries, iron, ozone, smoked meats, crushed stone, and dark chocolate all emerge from the 2022 Cte Rtie Lieu Dit Bonnivires, another brilliant 2022 from Yves. I love the balance and purity here. It has a concentrated mid palate, ripe, polished tannins, and serious depth. The tannin quality is absolutely terrific. Hide bottles for 4 5 years and enjoy over the following 15+. Drink 2030 2045.
